Welcome to the ABBARIDES Cattery

The ABBARIDES DU FORT Cattery was started in 1994. That year, we imported our first Persian girl from the l’Arc en Ciel cattery in Belgium..

Jessie is a Blue Van, she is the mother of our first Great Grand Champion of Europe : LITTLE STAR DES ABBARIDES DU FORT a Blue and White boy. Jessie stays at home but her coat is as rich and white as ever. Unforunately her son is no more and we miss him a lot. He has made a great show career and fathered most beautful kittens.

We are lucky as the two of us share the same passion, we love having babies, yet, we don’t have many as our females have only one litter a year and sometimes we postpone the births so as to attend the shows that will give us the opportunity of scoring points.

Our kittens are born in our bedroom, we use a nursery pen and they spend their first weeks there. Our nursing mothers are therefore separated from the rest of the cat family during the first month. Notwithstanding, we make it a point to impregnate our babies as much as possible, we take them in our hands on the day of their birth and then every day , Patrick nibbles them, Annie strokes them and their real mother licks them ,it is sort of team work…….

The temperament of our kittens is an asset for our cattery, it isn’t the only one, we also give a great importance to the length of the coat and to grooming.

You may be thinking of the standard, but, why repeat here what every serious breeder means to improve, let us tell you that we are trying to achieve the same , that’s what we apply ourselves to. All my breeding cats have been found genetically negative for PKD.
